Biotechnology Scholarships


There are fifteen scholarships totaling over $19,500 for students starting the Biotechnology Lab Technician Program at Northwest Iowa Community College in the fall of 2008. These scholarships are renewable, but the student must maintain initial scholarship criteria while enrolled in the program.
 
Full TIme Student Scholarships
1—Full tuition & fees to a student with minimum overall GPA of 3.0 (approximately $4,500)

3—One half tuition to any student with minimum overall GPA of 2.75 (approximately $1,750 ea)

9—$1,000 for any student with a minimum overall GPA of 2.5*


 
Part Time Student Scholarships
2—$500 for any student attending part time with a minimum overall GPA of 2.5*


Full time student-12 credits or more per semester
Part time student-6 credits or more per semester

*An applicant may receive multiple cash scholarships, with the proceeds to be used for tuition, fees and/or textbooks.

The applicants must have completed 4 semesters of high school science or 2 semesters of college science coursework with a minimum science GPA of 3.0.  Overall minimum GPA may be from high school accumulative GPA or 40 credits of college coursework.

Applicants should complete the general college application form found online, provide a transcript, and answer the following two questions.  Each question should be answered in two paragraphs or less. 

  1. What is your career goal and how will participation in NCC’s Biotechnology Lab Technician Program assist you in reaching that goal?
  2. What areas of science interest you most and explain why?  Be specific.
