The Core ® is a dynamic, engaging workshop that provides the fundamentals of a time-tested, behavioral model of how to best influence the performance of people. This innovative workshop is pragmatic, flexible and offers the means for learners to begin to impact performance results immediately. The Core ® is an extremely flexible facilitated developmental experience. The use of DVD technology enables the facilitator to easily tailor the material for the specific needs of a group—and the overall organization.

Strategic outcomes include: A focused methodology to ensure goal and task alignment; the diagnostic skills to determine the skill and motivation levels of employees; the ability to consciously select a leadership style appropriate for a situation; enhanced communication skills and a common language to effectively influence employee behavior; a process to effectively cover tough performance issues in an unemotional way; the accelerated development and retention of talent; and an increased respect for and honoring of differences. Franklin Covey FOCUS ®. Considered to be the “gold standard” with respect to time management courses, the Franklin Covey FOCUS ® course teaches participants the best way to manage the multiple demands each of us has placed on our time daily. Prioritization, planning, execution, and accomplishment of goals is taught against the backdrop of providing each participant with a Franklin Covey planner and receiving instruction regarding how to assemble and use this extraordinarily powerful organizing tool. This is an all day (8 hour) workshop.

Specifically, the MBTI explains in objective, non-threatening language the various ways individuals relate to others both while taking in and organizing information and while choosing behaviors. Participants will identify their own personality "types", and develop an understanding of how to meaningfully interact with personality "types" other than their own. This is for experienced welders who want to be qualified under one or more of the AWS, API, or ASE codes. This is not a structured class, but an opportunity to practice in NCC's welding lab and work one-on-one with an AWS certified instructor prior to the qualification test. (The test will determine your ability to deposit sound welds in accordance with the standardized requirements). Practice and test duration are based upon the skill level of the participant. The fee for up to 3 hours of guided practice and one qualification attempt is $245. Additional practice time, multiple test, retests, and on-site training using your equipment are also available. Electrical
The State of Iowa requires each licensed electrician to complete 18 hours of continuing education in a 3-year period prior to license renewal, which occurs every code cycle. Certification and re-certification is available. For more information contact Scott Abbott.

Water/Wastewater
The Iowa Department of Natural Resources administers the Water and Wastewater Operators Certification Program. This certification requires 10 or 20 hours of continuing education every two years per license held depending on grade. NCC provides certification test preparation courses and continuing education for Water Distribution, Water Treatment, and Wastewater Treatment. For more information contact Scott Abbott.

Hazard Analysis & Critical Control Points (HACCP) — Food Safety
Certified by the HACCP Alliance, this three day interactive workshop will cover the seven principles of HACCP and prerequisite programs. Working groups will be used to teach how to put these principles into action. This training will be offered at NCC quarterly, or can be delivered at your facility at times that are convenient for you. Participants will receive a HACCP Alliance Certified Certificate upon completion. For more information contact Frank De Milia.

ServSafe® Food Protection Manager
NCC is proud to announce ServSafe® Food Protection Manager Certification, a new training opportunity for Restaurant and Food Service Managers. Concepts managers will be taught in this training include: sanitation, the flow of food through the operation, sanitary facilities and pest management. For more information contact Frank De Milia.

Welding
Welding training can be provided for the individual who has prior welding knowledge and experience but now seeks certification in a specific welding process and position. Testing of the certification welding specimen will be conducted by an AWS certified welding instructor at NCC. For more information contact Scott Abbott.

 
Electrical Control Systems, Programmable Logic Controllers, Variable Frequency Drives
Basic instruction and hands-on activities will be conducted using the PLC, VFD, relays and motor starters, along with discussions covering electrical symbols, schematics, and ladder logic diagrams. For more information contact Scott Abbott.

Electrical Safety/Arc Flash
Proper selection and use of electrical shock and arc flash personnel protective equipment (PPE), a requirement of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970, along with along with the safety guidelines found in NFPA70E, Standard for Electrical Safety in the Workplace will be discussed. Arc Flash rated PPE will be demonstrated during this seminar.

National Electrical Code Requirements 
Finding required information in the National Electrical Code (NEC) can seem like an overwhelming task to those not familiar with its contents. The purpose of the course, Understanding the National Electrical Code, is to familiarize electricians with how to find specific topics in the NEC. For more information contact Scott Abbott.

Plant and Industrial Wiring
Plant and Industrial Wiring will cover the fundamental concepts of industrial wiring with an emphasis on installation procedures. Topics include: grounding and bonding, raceways, conduit/box fill, conductor ampacities, overcurrent protection, branch & feeder circuits, and proper use of extension cords. Basic Lab Techniques
Every laboratory is different and each has its own set of skills and techniques needed to make it a credible operation. This course is designed to teach good laboratory practices in areas of: units of measurement, how to accurately measure weight, volume and temperature using different devices, how to use scientific notation, understanding the difference between accuracy and precision, aseptic techniques, plating microbiological samples using 3M Petrifilm, environmental sampling, dilutions, properly cleaning glassware, cover tips on documentation, and understand verification vs. validation vs. calibration. Lab Equipment Training 
This course is designed to teach good laboratory practices in the use and maintenance of standard lab equipment. Topics could include: cover scales, pH meter, thermometers, pipettes, glassware, and notebooks or any other lab equipment that you may have. Mechanical Print Reading
The Mechanical Blueprint Reading course provides instruction on the basics of reading, understanding, accurately identifying common symbols, and accurately interpreting mechanical prints. Worksheets will be utilized throughout the course with examples from each section so participants can gain hands-on experience with the prints. Working with specific company prints brought in by participants will be a helpful advantage for all who attend. For more information contact Scott Abbott.

Production Welding
The Production Welding course will cover the
fundamentals, equipment, techniques and theory of welding. You will learn about all major welding and cutting processes used in production and repair. Welding processes will include oxyfuel gas welding, shielded metal arc welding, gas metal arc welding, flux core arc welding and gas tungsten arc welding. Certification or re-certification of welding positions and processes are available to all participants. We invite specific and special requests, which we will evaluate on a case by case basis. Programs and seminars may be customized to meet your needs. To develop a customized training program and solution to your learning needs, NCC will conduct a front-end needs analysis, develop solutions based upon your analysis, and deliver the customized training. Commercial Driver's License (CDL) Training
NCC's CDL training covers all the requirements of the CDL examination and an opportunity to practice behind the wheel.

Training sessions are available most weekday evenings and Saturdays at an hourly rate of $75. Prepayment of $225.00 (minimum fee applied toward training) is required prior to scheduling. Balance is required prior to testing.
