Northwest Iowa Community College Annual Report Northwest Iowa Community College held its first annual Days of Thunder celebration October 21–26, 2013. It was a weeklong homecoming celebration that will now be held every year in October. The purpose of the weeklong event was to celebrate our rich heritage and our bright future. It’s rewarding to see students make something that will be on campus for years to come. NCC employees and students joined with retirees, business leaders, alumni, senior citizens, families, friends, and hundreds of community members during various events that were held throughout the week. Dr. John Hartog, Vice President of Student & Academic Services said, “Together we wanted to look back at the rich history of NCC and also look ahead to the future. We commemorated the challenges we have overcome, the strengths we have built up, and the future we face.” Students interacted with potential employers, manufacturing leaders helped to dedicate a student welded sculpture, and runners contributed to student scholarships. Families attended classes with their students and senior citizens reconnected with NCC. Everyone was invited to a meal and a dueling pianos concert held at the Lifelong Learning and Recreation Center. The entire week provided great experiences for everyone involved.
